Flooding in the Red River Valley region of Minnesota has reached the flood crisis stage. The National Weather
Service is reporting that the majority of the river forecast points are expected to experience moderate to
major flooding this spring.
Seven Minnesota counties are currently affected by the flooding of the Red River including: Wilkin, Clay,
Marshall, Polk, Norman, Kittson and Traverse counties.
Governor Pawlenty signed Executive Order 09-05 declaring a State of Emergency in Minnesota for the above
mentioned Minnesota counties due to rapidly warming temperatures, rainfall and other factors that have
created the potential for serious flooding.
