Overview

The Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust (MCIT) is a joint risk sharing entity, established pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 471.59 and 471.981 and is open to governmental units or other political subdivisions subject to approval by MCIT's Board of Directors. MCIT presently provides coverage and services to 81 of Minnesota's 87 counties and approximately 400 other public entities. Originally created to provide counties access to affordable Workers' Compensation coverage, the program has grown to include a Property/Casualty Division and risk management services.

The coverage provided by MCIT is uniquely tailored to member needs. The MCIT Coverage Document is reviewed regularly and modifications are made to ensure that it provides the greatest protection for members at a reasonable cost.
