The MCIT Board of Directors welcomed Hubbard County Coordinator Eric Nerness to the board during its June meeting. He fills a vacancy created when former Brown County Administrator Chuck Enter left his post at the county and departed the MCIT Board in May.
The MCIT Board includes one county administrator or coordinator. Per MCIT Bylaws, the Minnesota Association of County Administrators recommends an administrator or coordinator for this seat subject to the approval of the board. MACA recommended Nerness in April, and the MCIT Board of Directors appointed him during the May 8 meeting. His position is for a two-year term, starting at his appointment.
Nerness has been the coordinator in Hubbard County since 2018. Although relatively new to county service, he brings 30 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sector to his work for the MCIT Board. Immediately prior to joining Hubbard County, he worked for USAA, first in its office of general counsel for four years, and then in its property/casualty group for 13 years.
Nerness holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
