County recorders have expressed concern over the personal liability to which they may be subject by virtue of the surety bond that a licensed abstracter is required to obtain. To be licensed, an abstracter must be insured. However, abstracter liability policies are no longer available. Instead licensed abstracters must purchase a surety bond.
