The no-cost webinar “What to Do When Substance Use Affects an Employee’s Job Performance” is the third in a four-part series focused on risk management best practices for employee performance management. It was originally presented live June 12, 2024, by Christina Eberly, a clinician and account manager with AllOne Health (formerly Sand Creek), the MCIT Employee Assistance Program administrator.

The webinar identifies common traps that snare managers in the employee performance management process and offers strategies to sidestep them. In particular, the session covers:

  • Signs of substance use and the threshold for reasonable suspicion of substance use by employees
  • Strategies managers can use to respond when an employees’ substance use or addiction affects his or her job performance
  • Ways to manage an employee’s performance.

The session also includes a review of services available to managers and employees through the Employee Assistance Program to help in these situations.
