The no-cost webinar “Tips for Effective Difficult Conversations with Employees” is the last in a series focused on risk management best practices for employee performance management. It is presented by Christina Eberly, a clinician and account manager with Sand Creek, the MCIT Employee Assistance Program administrator.

What You Learn

The webinar identifies common traps that snare managers in the employee performance management process and offers methods to sidestep them. In particular, the session provides strategies for having effective conversations with employees about difficult topics, including poor job performance. Methods discussed include:

  • Preparing for the conversation, both the manager and the employee
  • Managing emotions during the conversation
  • Establishing outcomes

The session also includes a review of services available to managers and employees through the Employee Assistance Program to help in these situations.
